Our Music Director

For the past 22 years, the Lakeland Choral Society has been under the skillful direction of Dr. Larry Sledge, recently retired as Director of Choral Studies at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. A graduate of Southern Illinois University (Master's Degrees in vocal performance and composition), Dr. Sledge holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from Florida State University. In addition to FSC, he has served on the faculties of St. Leo University, University of South Florida, and Southern Illinois University, and is a past President of the Florida chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.

Highly regarded in the field of choral conducting, Dr. Sledge is frequently sought out as a guest conductor and choral clinician. Still, he finds time to direct one of the vocal choirs and a handbell ensemble at Lakeland’s All Saints Episcopal Church.

Our Accompanist

The Lakeland Choral Society is accompanied by Sue Fee, an accomplished pianist, organist and harpist.  A retired music educator who holds a B. A. in Music Education from Southern Illinois University and a Master’s in the Art of Teaching Music from Rollins College,  Mrs. Fee also serves as organist for College Heights United Methodist Church in Lakeland.  As a staff accompanist to the Department of Music at Florida Southern College, she accompanies many of their students, and performs for weddings, recitals and other venues. Performers all over the Central Florida area seek her skills as an accompanist for auditions and performances alike.
